Proclamation Feature

"For the last 40 years, the Rex organization has been producing beautiful works of fine art, they're known as proclamations and they're prized among members of the organization. We use them as official gifts to the mayor and other dignitaries each year and this year we've commissioned a very special proclamation in honor of those lost due to Covid and for the first time in our history we're making the proclamations available to the general public."

This year's proclamation was born as a symbol of our great city's endurance. The riderless captain's horse embodies the spirit of Mardi Gras. The Rex organization "Pro Bono Publico" all of New Orleans, it represents a bridge between what we've all endured and what lies waiting for us on the other side, which is healing, and life, seeing the people we love, doing the things we love to do.

I try to capture that in the proclamation the golden bars of light, the green grass, it all represents hope and healing. The the magical horse galloping on its own, the lilies at the bottom represent the city of New Orleans. The color of New Orleans, the people, the music, the food, Mardi Gras the celebration, all being together all coming together. It's all in there, It's all in proclamation.

I think that such a beautiful organization and what you all do for the city is above and beyond and the responsibility that you carry forth is something that has endured for so long and will endure through everything. It was just great to be a part of it, to give back. To be able, as an artist, to give back and to be a part of it because even though there is no Mardi Gras, Rex is still a part of New Orleans, and still gives back and the spirit of that was such a pleasure to be a part of.

Proclamations can be purchased on Two sizes are available; full size and eight by ten. A portion of all proceeds go to the"Pro Bono Publico" foundation to support New Orleans public schools. To date the foundation has donated more than $9,000,000 to support New Orleans schools. With the purchase of a proclamation you can help too.
