This painting is straight from the dream state. It’s along the lines of what fills my head when I first wake up in the morning, but especially what I see in the middle of the night half asleep. Orbs of light, pyramids of colored light, animals pacing or flying through my mind’s eye. One sleepless night I decided to sketch out the beginning lines of this piece. It became about balance, the balance between the feminine and the masculine. The Ancient Egyptians called it Maat. Maat was both the goddess and personification of truth, justice, harmony, but above all, balance. Certainly, being the mother of girl boy fraternal twins, I am constantly shown the clear differences between the feminine and the masculine, but that we all clearly have both within us and seek a balance of the two sides to be most fulfilled and healthy in life. This piece also shows the strength of the light and the beauty of the goodness in life, as the dark lines are not able to enter the orbs. It also shows a Tree of Life and the Bee which is critical to the on- going lifecycle of all that we know.
